Canon New Zealand is restructuring its marketing team and will be laying off around half a dozen staff. Canon head Tony Wills confirmed the changes, saying the company is looking to its Australian counterparts for more of its marketing material.
Wills says Canon Australia has a "far greater resource" and that having a closer tie to the Australian marketing team means Canon NZ will be able to go to market faster with new products. He says three management roles will be axed and replaced by one national manager for both sales and marketing.
"We've had internal applications naturally, but we've also had a lot of interest from Australia already, which is interesting," he says. Canon NZ employs 287 people.
