- Arrogant Apple
Microsoft feels your pain
Be touched by His noodly appendage
I am as always amazed at what Apple Computer gets away with in its never-ending quest to test the patience of its Mac faithful.
This week, New Zealanders wanting to buy music in the newly opened Aussie iTunes store were humiliated by being forced into Australianising their country. If that bum note didn’t resonate badly enough with Kiwis, the Australian iTunes store later refused to accept NZ credit cards completely.
And of course, Apple here has no idea if or when there will be a local iTunes store available.
Even russb the inveterate Mac Marine is getting miffed.
Direct democracy goes mobile
Switzerland is a country full of contradictions. The Swiss stay out of the surrounding EC, but host a whole bunch of international organisations instead. They’re not very keen on allowing foreigners to migrate to their country, but it’s the one place on earth where the Germans, Italians and French live without too many ructions.
And, the Swiss have a form of direct democracy where most countries insulate their populaces from political decision making through the representative variety.
It all seems to work for them though, so I have no doubt that the Swiss will be able to make a success of SMS voting.
