Westpac reorganises IT services

Westpac loses Glenn Patrick in the shuffle but picks up David Boyes

Westpac has appointed a new chief information officer, David Boyes, who is currently a director at IBM Global Services in Australia.

Boyes had previously held several senior positions at the National Bank of New Zealand. The CIO role has been elevated to a direct reporting line to managing director Ann Sherry.

Previously IT reported through Westpac’s general manager, business and technology solutions and services (BTSS), Glenn Patrick, who is moving on “to pursue other interests”. The other functions contained within BTSS, including operations, procurement and properties, will now form a separate business unit called Operations.

“IT needed to have a strong voice on my executive team, so the role has changed to recognise this,” says Sherry. “We now have the correct structure in place to deliver tangible and meaningful improvements to our customer service.”
