CES : Eleksen offers wireless fabric keyboard

The keyboard connects with smart phones, PDAs and other handhelds using Bluetooth

Tired of pressing tiny buttons on your handheld to send a long text message or edit a document? Then check out Eleksen's new ElekTex Smart Fabric wireless keyboard.

The 100% fabric, full laptop-size keyboard is designed to connect with smart phones, PDAs (personal digital assistants) and other handheld devices using wireless Bluetooth technology.

Weighing only 2.4 ounces (68 grams), the water-repellent, durable keyboard can be rolled up and stored in a pocket or handbag, according to the Eleksen web site.

The keyboard's design features a charcoal gray fabric keyboard and the electronics plastic housing has an embedded LED (light emitting diode) to show keyboard status and Bluetooth connectivity status.

Pricing was not available.

Eleksen's core technology ElekTex, is a electro-conductive fabric touch pad optimised for flexible, durable and rugged fabric touch screen interfaces.

The company, in Iver Heath, UK, licenses its ElekTex technology to manufactures for use in custom electronics design and also sells a range of ready-to-integrate systems to makers of garments, bags and accessories.

The ElekTex Smart Fabric wireless keyboard was shown at last week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
