FX Networks, the preferred supplier for the backbone component of the governments shared network (GSN), expects to turn on its Auckland-Wellington link in June, according to chief executive Murray Jurgeleit.
By September, the company plans to have extended the link to Christchurch.
Meanwhile, the State Services Commission is continuing to work its way through contract provisions for the ten preferred suppliers of the various infrastructure components of GSN. They are: IBM, Asnet, Kaon Technologies, Datacom, BCL, CityLink, Vector Communications, DTS, Revera and FX Networks.
The SSC won’t comment on how the contract negotiations are proceeding, but it is understood the service-level agreements are fairly draconian and causing some concern.
The major sticking point appears to be a plan to conduct audits on customer billings, to ensure no other party is getting a better deal than the government.
Computerworld understands negotiations are running about a month late.
