Bob Smith has resigned as chief executive of Woosh, just days after the wireless internet provider bought ISP Quicksilver.
According to a Woosh statement, Smith is leaving to pursue “opportunities in the online and content space as well as giving more time to his power-boating passion”.
He is quoted in the statement as saying “it’s now time for the next leader to come through and deliver against the fully convergent telecommunications and IT future that will emerge following unbundling and the rapid advances in wireless technology platforms”.
Smith was with Woosh for five-and-a-half years.
Woosh chairman Rod Inglis pays tribute to Smith in the statement, which ends with a note that “the Woosh management structure will be announced in the near future”.
