EMC’s New Zealand operation has been spared the recent round of redundancies announced in the US.
A local spokesperson for the company told Computerworld, “EMC is growing its market position and we do not expect the recent announcement to impact on business in New Zealand.”
Likewise, the cuts won’t affect EMC Australia. The company’s Australia-New Zealand general manager, David Webster, told Computerworld Australia, “We do not expect the recent employment cuts to impact on local operations at this time.”
Earlier this month, EMC announced it was eliminating 1,250 jobs. This action comes in the wake of the major acquisition spree the company has been on for the past three years, which has involved 21 buys.
