Local recruitment firm absoluteIT has opened an office in London, following the success of the Opportunities New Zealand Expo, held in the UK in October, says Grant Burley, director of absoluteIT.
“We are placing people regularly as a result of [the expo],” he says.
He says that the timing of the expo couldn’t have been better as many Britons, who are considering a future in New Zealand, plan to visit and check New Zealand out over the long Christmas holiday.
There is market opportunity for Kiwi recruitment firms in the UK. A lot of British ICT workers are looking to migrate to New Zealand, says Burley.
In addition, British workers adapt quite easily to the New Zealand workplace culture and employers generally have a positive attitude towards employing them, he says.
Another important factor behind the new office is that one of absoluteIT’s employees in Auckland had to return to the UK to look after a family member. When it became clear that he would remain there for some time, the idea of opening a London office became reality.
“There is no other dedicated IT recruitment company in New Zealand who has an office [in the UK],” says Burley.
The office currently has only one staff member but Burley expects numbers to grow quite quickly. AbsoluteIT is hoping that the London office will help bring in more talent to the skills-seeking New Zealand ICT industry. Burley also says that the migration and integration process will run more smoothly with the help of the office.
The office will also assist New Zealanders wishing to find work in the UK, he says.
