Simpl sells infrastructure services group

It's a strategic move to allow Simpl to focus on its core areas of expertise, says managing director

Simpl Group has sold its infrastructure services business to SecureCom, an infrastructure specialist. SecureCom will move into Simpl’s Auckland premises and take over Simpl’s infrastructure staff.

It’s a strategic move to allow Simpl to focus on its core areas of expertise, according to Simpl managing director Bennett Medary.

“Running an infrastructure services business requires different skills and expertise and a whole different business model from running an integration and software-development-focused business,” he says.

The company had been considering splitting its infrastructure services into a new company and increasing its investment in that part of the business.

“But the opportunity to sell our infrastructure services business to SecureCom and continue to work closely with them and with our joint clients offered the best of both worlds,” Medary says

“Providing infrastructure services requires scale and [this] gives SecureCom a strong foundation on which to continue their growth.”

Customers affected by the changes have been briefed and a transition plan is being created for each.

SecureCom, which was formed in 2002, has 30 staff and has offices in Auckland, Wellington and Brisbane. It provides network consultancy, complex hosting and security solutions.

The Simpl Group was recently chosen by Microsoft as one of the two New Zealand health ICT companies to support its Connected Health Framework.

Simpl has offices in Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne and London.
