University of Auckland students off to ACM World Finals

A University of Auckland computer science team is off to Tokyo next year to represent New Zealand universities at the ACM World Finals after cleaning up at the South Pacific contest.

Competitors are ranked on their ability to solve the problems correctly and the time taken.

The team members, comprising third year students Robert Bowmaker, Stephen Merriman and Andrew Olsen, were named New Zealand champions at the ACM South Pacific Programming Contest. The trio also successfully defended their title at the New Zealand Programming Contest, and were the only group in the history of the competition to solve all the problems correctly.
