IBM specialist Certus has made another acquisition, buying Australian IBM services provider Software Traction.
The buy follows Certus’ purchase of Eos Solutions in 2009.
In a statement announcing the acquisition of Software Traction, Certus CEO Brian Allen says: “Certus customers will receive the additional depth of expertise in Rational and Tivoli products which Software Traction adds to our business.”
Software Traction is a Rational and Tivoli specialist, and is headed by Stu Garrow, who was IRM’s Rational Software regional manager in Australia before he founded Software Traction three years ago.
The buy will take Certus’ annual income to close to A$50 million and will boost its headcount to more than 100.
Allen says some redundancies are “unavoidable”, with regard to administrative functions, but customer-facing roles will be unaffected. Computerworld Australia reports that five administration staff will be let go.
Certus has offices in Auckland, Wellington, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
A Certus spokesman says the value of the deal is confidential.
