NZ second most favoured target for cyber-vandalism

One in 638 users attempts a hack

New Zealand websites are among the most likely to be targeted by cyber vandalism, according to a new report.

Security company TippingPoint has found UK websites are most likely to be attacked by hackers, with an attack ratio of one attack per every 479 internet users, Melbourne newspaper The Age reports. New Zealand websites come under attack from one in every 638 users, while Australian sites get attacked by one in every 732 users.

Many of the cyber vandalism attacks stem from Turkey, the report says. In May, sites hosted by Digital Network were targeted by Turkish hacker "crackers_child" while a similar attack last August targeted sites hosted by iServe.
