FryUp: How about that second GSM network?

Telecom finally makes its network move while Woosh really needs to explain its position a bit better

The ComCom speaks

Overall, the picture remains the same as before: we pay through the nose for basic telecommunications services and broadband. Vodafone is not cheaper in New Zealand than the OECD average in any case. Telecom is rated as either the most expensive or the second-most costly for mobile calls, and in 24th and 25th place for fixed lines.

Of Woosh and WiMAX

Woosh really needs to explain its position a bit better, because from here, it looks like a spectrum squatter and nothing else. The point is that the government is trying to make the 2.3-2.5GHz spectrum viable for WiMAX; why fight that?

Plus: Porirua online and make that GSM a double.
