Telecom is winding down its involvement with the School Connection sponsorship programme, after supporting it for 15 years. Telecom’s chief operating officer, Kevin Kendrick, says the programme has achieved its original objective: to assist schools into digital networking.
The programme relies on customers accumulating points from their Telecom spending and then choosing a school to donate the points to. Telecom then apportioned funding for approved equipment according to schools’ points.
The company claims to have donated $120 million via the programme. It is seeking another sponsor to run a similar scheme.
