InternetNZ has cut the attendance price of the upcoming NetHui 2011 from $800 to $30 plus GST.
The three-day conference, which aims to “bring together everyone involved in internet issues in New Zealand” will be held in Auckland at SkyCity from June 29 to July 1.
The cost to delegates has been reduced following InternetNZ’s decision to triple its level of financial support for the conference to $150,000. However to keep costs down, conference delegates will have to purchase a subsidised lunch for $15 plus GST.
InternetNZ CEO Vikram Kumar says additional sponsors for the NetHui also being sought. He says details on two keynote speakers will be announced shortly.
InternetNZ and its subsidiaries the Domain Name Commission and New Zealand Registry Services receives approximately $6 million a year in domain name registration fees. It uses the revenue to maintain the .nz registration service and the remainder is used for policy and advocacy around issues of the internet.
