'War driver' wins at fair

Student project reveals wireless security failings

A student wireless network tester, or 'war driver', who revealed security failings in South Auckland wireless networks (Computerworld, July 23) won his top prize in his school science fair with the project.

Auke de Boer says he won first prize in his class and the premier prize for best school project after he showed business wireless networks were less secure than many home networks after a series of drives through Manukau City, Takanini and East Tamaki.
