Credit check notification service launched

Detecting improper access to records is goal

Veda Advantage, formerly Baycorp, has released My Credit Alert, a service that notifies customers when their credit file has been accessed.

My Credit Alert offers Veda users notification by email, fax or post of when credit records are looked into. The idea is to protect users against bogus or malicious access to their records, Veda New Zealand country manager John Roberts says.

“Veda Advantage facilitates credit checks for all New Zealand’s major banks and lenders, which puts us in a position of responsibility to ensure the consumer gets the best possible protection from fraudsters,” Roberts is quoted as saying in a media release.

Veda holds 1.5 million personal credit files.
