Telecom apologises, says email issues resolved

Company boosts call centres to deal with backlog

Telecom says email faults that have dogged its service over the weekend and into this week are now resolved.

A registration fault with the new Yahoo!Xtra Bubble service, to be officially launched this Friday, has been fixed, the company says.

"The technical fault identified on Monday night had meant some customers were unable to register for Yahoo!Xtra Bubble or access their webmail via the new service," the company said in a statement today. Customers are now able to register for services including webmail.

Telecom's consumer division chief operating officer, Kevin Kenrick, says the company is continuing to assist customers who have issues with individual email settings. Information about the issues has been updated online, and additional staff brought on to assist in call centres.

Over the weekend many customers reported long waits for call-centre service.

"We apologise for any inconvenience these problems have caused to affected customers and thank those who have been waiting to register for their patience," Kenrick says.
