Christchurch-based SLI Systems, which provides on-demand search services for internet and e-commerce sites, has a new shareholder. He’s Jeffrey Zwelling, founder and CEO of YLighting, the largest online retailer of high-end modern lighting in the US.
Zwelling has made a personal investment in the company, based on his experience working with SLI. Since deploying SLI’s hosted site search, YLighting has streamlined its click trails, shortening the time it takes for customers to sort through the 1200 products available on the site and increasing sales because shoppers can now easily find the brands they are seeking.
“Before working with SLI we were never satisfied with our site search functionality,” Zwelling says. “Other vendors in the market could not meet our needs.
“After deploying SLI’s solutions, the improvement to our site was immediate. I was so impressed by the company, its products and its outstanding customer service that I felt compelled to invest. It’s only a matter of time before SLI Systems becomes a household name in the e-commerce industry.”
He says YLighting had experimented with numerous internal and third-party search solutions that always produced sub-standard results. The company’s products were constantly changing but standardised content to keep up with these changes was not available, forcing YLighting to spend time and money building and updating large data files to keep searches up-to-date.
SLI’s Learning Search learns over time, based on user queries, and does not require updated data files.
Because of the results achieved, YLighting also deployed SLI’s Site Champion hosted offering, and is now seeing an increasing number of visitors to the site, based on its higher rankings in web search results on sites like Google and Yahoo.
“YLighting has built its foundation on quality customer service, a user-friendly website and in-stock products,” Zwelling says. “Before working with SLI, we could tell that our customers weren’t leaving the site satisfied.
“SLI’s ability to tailor a site search solution to our needs and the responsiveness of the SLI team has significantly enhanced our customer experience and, in turn, improved our business metrics.”
SLI Systems, which is a privately held company, also has offices in Silicon Valley and London. The company, which was set up six years ago, employs around 30 people. YLighting was founded in 2001.
