Telecom posts notice on XT network voice issues

Update 3pm: Telecom reports voice service restored, software fault blamed

Telecom have posted a notice alerting customers to issues with the voice service on its XT mobile network,

The notice reades:

“Telecom advises that some customers will be experiencing intermittent issues making calls over XT.

The degradation of voice service is predominantly in the North Island.

Data and text messages are working as normal.

We are working as quickly as possible to restore full service.

We apologise for the inconvenience to affected customers.”

Update 1pm

"Telecom advises that some customers are experiencing intermittent congestion issues when making calls in some parts of the North Island.

Data and text messages (SMS) are working as normal.

If customers experience issues when making important calls, we recommend they use a landline.

We are working as quickly as possible to restore full service.

We apologise for the inconvenience to affected customers."

Update 3pm

"Telecom advises that mobile calling services have returned to normal.

Some customers had experienced intermittent call congestion issues this morning, however service has restored progressively from around midday.

The voice issues were caused by a software fault which has now been resolved and the network remains under close monitoring.

Data and text messages (SMS) were not affected, and remained working as normal.

We apologise for the inconvenience to affected customers."
