Comcom chooses Epitiro to monitor broadband

Telco Commissioner seeks data on broadband quality

The Commerce Commission has selected Epitiro Technologies to deliver measurements of broadband data quality in New Zealand.

The Telecommunications Commissioner, Dr Ross Patterson, says that as the industry moves into a period of change, the Commission needs robust data to measure the impact of competition in broadband offerings.

The move is in response to a provision in the Telecommunications Act 2001, which gives the Commission increased responsibility for monitoring service delivery. It came into force on 22 December, 2006.

Epitiro will provide data on up to ten of the largest ISPs from multiple sites around the country.
