TelstraClear’s DSL service has once again been ranked as the top broadband service in New Zealand, according to a broadband performance analysis conducted by internet measurement company Epitiro.
Orcon pinched the second place and Slingshot came in third. UK-based Epitiro announced its last broadband service performance results for 2007 today. “While TelstraClear maintains a comparably good service to the main centres, the others are unquestionably catching up” says Epitiro managing director Michael Cranna. “If Orcon hadn’t experienced email service delivery delays, they would have pushed pretty close to the top spot.”
Epitiro, which has also analysed broadband standards in the UK and other parts of the world, conducted tests in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, measuring the performance of the DSL services of the five largest ISPs — Xtra, TCL, ihug, Orcon and Slingshot.
TelstraClear won the top spot in the results announced in September. Back then, Slingshot was the runner-up and Orcon came in third, according to Epitiro.
All of the ISPs showed an improvement in their performance on the previous three month period, says Cranna.
The Commerce Commission recently chose Epitiro to deliver measurements of broadband data quality in New Zealand .
