Apple eyes gaming

Company trademark amended

Apple may have its eye on the gaming market.

In a trademark filing dated February 5, it amended its trademark to include "Toys, games and playthings, namely, hand-held units for playing electronic games; hand-held units for playing video games; stand alone video game machines; electronic games other than those adapted for use with television receivers only; LCD game machines; electronic educational game machines; toys, namely battery-powered computer games."

According to trademark watchdog site Trademork, there is little evidence that Apple is developing a gaming unit. The only thing — apart from the Trademark amendment — to suggest that Apple is going down that path is an announcement earlier this year that it plans to work with Intel on a line of ultra-mobile processors for a series of handheld gadgets.
