Patent troll wins US$8 million in suit against Apple

Entity that holds IP, but doesn't operate a business, prevails in lawsuit regarding audio patents

Personal Audio, a Texas company that holds several patents relating to audio technologies, has won US$8 million in a lawsuit it took out against Apple in 2009.

The firm also sued several other companies it claimed were infringing its patents, and settled out of court with them last year.

Personal Audio originally sought $84 million from Apple.
