Local web acceleration specialist snapped up by US giant

Aptimize acquired by Riverbed Technology

Wellington software firm Aptimize, which provides internet optimisation services, has been acquired by global WAN optimisation vendor Riverbed Technology.

Companies Office records show that Riverbed acquired the full register of 3,822,400 Aptimize shares, which were transferred to Riverbed on Thursday July 14.

Aptimize's local shareholders, whose stakes have been acquired by Riverbed, include Aptimize managing director Ed Robinson and several employees of Intergen, who became Aptimize shareholders after Intergen backed Aptimize during its start-up phase.

Former Telecom general counsel Mark Verbiest was also a shareholder.
