Telecom to launch WorldMode BlackBerry next week

Coverage will be provided in 75 countries

Telecom will officially launch a WorldMode BlackBerry, its first BlackBerry offering, next week along with a WorldMode data roaming service.

A WorldMode personal digital assistant is expected in April.

"WorldMode Data Roaming capability augments Telecom’s current WorldMode voice and SMS service to provide data in over 75 countries around the world on both CDMA and GSM networks," Telecom's launch material says.

The BlackBerry offered is a World Edition BlackBerry 8830. It has been trialled by some Telecom Gen-i customers since late last year.

The Dominion Post reviewed the BlackBerry 8830 in February. Telecom flagged the impending launch in December.
