No local layoffs at Nokia Siemens Networks

Global staff cull doesn't affect NZ and Australia

No New Zealand or Australian staff of Nokia Siemens Networks will lose their jobs as part of the global cull of 1500 positions at NSN worldwide announced today.

A NSN Australia spokesman confirmed that the round of redundancies doesn’t affect the company’s Australian and New Zealand operation and reiterated that the layoffs will come from the ranks of the 9600 staff that NSN took on when it acquired Motorola’s wireless networks business in April.

NSN provides Vodafone’s network in New Zealand and has an engineering and maintenance agreement with Kordia.
