Wellington ISP embraces unbundling

ISP Actrix will shortly start setting up its own Dslams in Telecom exchanges, initially in central Wellington.

The switches will still be accessing Telecom lines and arranging this access will be the critical factor governing the installation’s timing, says national marketing manager Stephen Duder.

One will be sited in Cambridge Terrace, at the Courtenay Place end of town, and the other at a yet to be decided site at the Parliament end.

The move to its own equipment could well spread elsewhere in the country, but Wellington comes first because that’s where the company started and has its biggest market, Duder says.
