CIOs in the Asia-Pacific region and Europe are anticipating greater increases in budgets than their US counterparts, according to research firm Gartner.
According to a survey by Gartner of 1,000 CIOs around the world in February and March, Asia-Pacific CIOs expect their budgets to increase 5.98% this year. European CIOs were looking at an average 3.85% increase, while their US colleagues were expecting rises of only 2.3%. The average expected increase across all CIOs surveyed was 3.3%.
Gartner analyst Mark McDonald noted “the reason we believe IT budget growth will remain stable globally at 3.3% is because Europe and Asia-Pacific are experiencing accelerated and additional growth.”
McDonald said “the current economic conditions when viewed from outside the US are seen as a US-only phenomenon.”
