Following BMC’s takeover of datacentre automation specialist BladeLogic, a senior BladeLogic staffer is to be located in Sydney to handle that part of BMC’s operation for the Australia, New Zealand and South-East Asian region.
Brian Daley will take on the title of service automation specialist. It is likely he will be assisted by one applications person to undertake proofs-of-concept for prospective clients, he says.
BladeLogic has no customers in New Zealand to date. Having had a relatively small staff it has concentrated on the US and Europe, says Daley. BMC, of course, has a presence here and, Daley says, is an excellent fit with BladeLogic’s products, which concentrate entirely on the server space.
It’s the one market that BMC has not specifically attacked, he says. But a number of its specialist fields surround and feed into what BladeLogic has done. The company, formed more than six years ago, was formally absorbed into BMC in April this year.
BladeLogic’s products assist the provisioning and reprovisioning of servers, configuration, detection and diagnosis of faults, maintenance of the inventory of servers and attached equipment, handling of adds, moves and changes, virtualisation management and the development and enforcement of server policies.
