Genesis Energy refreshes its storage

New arrangement will involve multi-tiered storage

Genesis Energy is planning to overhaul its storage environment. The SOE is in the market for storage infrastructure that will last five years. According to a request for proposal, Genesis’ current SANs are approaching the end of their life and the limit of their capacity. The new arrangement will involve multi-tiered storage, with the ability to move data between different tiers at different stages in its life.

Also required is the ability to carry out data de-duplication within Genesis’ current CommVault backup system. The potential for storage virtualisation at Genesis’ Greenlane, Huntly and Hamilton datacentres is a further requirement. The new system is scheduled to go live in October.
