The Ministry of Social Development has signed contracts with Gen-i and Vodafone to deliver its telecommunications services.
Gen-i will provide all the Ministry's data and voice technology and Vodafone its mobile communications.
Computerworld reported late last year that the previous agreement, with TelstraClear, was due to expire and that Vodafone and Gen-i would replace the incumbent.
A statement released today says the ministry has reduced its overall telecommunications expence while also introducing new technologies through the deal. It says the deals will reduce complexity and lead to better network service to remote sites.
