The Commerce Commission has released its draft determination on the non-price terms for cellular providers to share mobile transmission sites.
The terms set out the conditions for the installation of a mobile provider's equipment on another operator's cell masts, reducing the cost for providers through the sharing of network infrastructure and also potentially reducing the cost of market entry to new providers.
The Commission has requested submissions from the industry on a number of issues and there will be further consultation before a final determination is made.
The closing date for submissions on the draft determination is 22 August. It is anticipated the final determination will be issued in November.
