FX Networks has won the internet connectivity business of Wellington-based movie-makers Weta and Wingnut, makers of Lord of the Rings, King Kong and other productions.
FX Networks has connected its internet backbone to the Weta and Wingnut Group of companies following the rollout of the Miramar suburban fibre-optic network by Weta and Citylink. FX Networks will provide connectivity to studios, customers and partners around the world.
Tom Greally, general manager at Weta Digital says FX Networks was chosen as a means to achieve "fast, reliable and simple access for a known and affordable cost".
FX Networks provides the Weta with 1Gbit/s connectivity across its internet backbone to partners and in excess of 100Mbit/s to the rest of the world on a flat-rate, fixed-price basis.
