Vodafone to cut paper billing

Telco plans to charge $1.50 to those who prefer paper

Vodafone is canning paper bills for individuals and home businesses in favour of online billing and self service, starting this month.

However, customers who prefer to receive a paper account can still do so - for a monthly fee of $1.50 per bill to be introduced next year.

Large businesses will continue with their current billing arrangements.

Vodafone plans to include a letter with customers' last paper bill showing them how online billing will work.

The company says each month, customers will receive either a TXT message or an email alerting them to their bill due date and amount. A detailed tax invoice can also be seen on the Vodafone website and downloaded.

Vodafone’s fixed line and broadband service, formerly called ihug, introduced online billing in 2005.

Customers will be able to move from one plan to another, view call and TXT details or change their details using the online My Vodafone service. It will also includes a 13-month history of billing information.
