Microsoft to back jQuery

Will be part of Visual Studio

Microsoft plans to incorporate the jQuery JavaScript library into its Visual Studio platform, according to several recent blog entries.

JQuery, the jQuery website states, is "a fast and concise JavaScript library that simplifies HTML document traversing, event handling, animating, and AJAX interactions for rapid web development."

Scott Guthrie, corporate vice president in Microsoft's developer division, noted Microsoft's intentions.

"Microsoft will be shipping jQuery with Visual Studio going forward," Guthrie said. "We will distribute the jQuery JavaScript library as is, and will not be forking or changing the source from the main jQuery branch.  The files will continue to use and ship under the existing jQuery MIT licence."
