Wellington-based Aptimize is launching its RPO (Runtime Page Optimizer) product, designed to significantly increase the speed of websites.
When CEO Ed Robinson was challenged by a slow website for his online business, he found a solution through optimising the web pages for faster loading times. The result was an entirely new business, Aptimize.
New Zealand is losing potentially hundreds of millions of dollars in export opportunities because local websites, when viewed anywhere from London to New York to Mexico City can have excruciatingly slow download times, and hence are often ineffective, he says.
The RPO product will be launched at Wellington to the World, an technology entrepreneur event, on Friday.
Aptimize already has interest from New Zealand and overseas businesses, and support from performance experts at Microsoft, AOL and Google, says Robinson.
Robinson worked for Microsoft in the US for six years, where he, among other things, helped the international space station develop a new type of touch screen interface suitable for astronaut gloves. He also developed one of New Zealand’s first online credit card clearance systems in 1997.
