Computer systems engineer writes: My job involves responsibility for two Novell servers, 20 Windows 2003 servers, a Check Point firewall, RSA Remote Access system, Argent monitoring software, helpdesk calls and 20 network printers. I work for a local government organisation in Gisborne and have been in the role for eight years. My skills include Novell administration, Windows 2003 Server administration and set-up, WMware ESX, hardware and software troubleshooting, and Backup Exec 10b. Previous roles include hardware technician and helpdesk staffer. Career highlights include installing Check Point firewall and RSA Remote Access. My qualifications include Windows 2003 courses, Novell courses and McAfee courses.

Enterprise Recruitment responds: This is a mix of systems administration and network engineering in a fairly substantial installation with a mix of technologies which includes remote access. With eight years under your belt, there will be a fair amount of domain know-how, well-established relationships, and a wide array of responsibilities and background knowledge. Taking all this into account, a base salary of $90,000-$100,000 with an incentive based on KPIs of 10%-15%, a car allowance or vehicle, mobile phone and laptop.
