Nokia announced more details about its upcoming Messaging platform, which will add support for mobile email and instant messaging, at its recent World 08 conference in Barcelona.
"If you buy a Nokia device we will make sure you'll be able to access whatever email account or instant messaging account that you may have," said Tom Farrell, director of software and services sales at Nokia.
The goal is to reach the point where email and instant messaging are as ubiquitous as SMS is today, Farrell said.
Nokia Messaging will first be available on Nokia S60 devices. Instant messaging and support for Nokia Series 40 devices will be enabled next year.
