Multi-agency group serves notice of outsourcing deal

Hosting for up to 70 servers and connectivity up for grabs

Local ICT business could get off to a bright start next year with five agencies serving notice of their intention to outsource hosting, services and communications among other services.

The New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA), Ministry of Education (MoE), Tertiary Education Commission (TEC), Career Services and National Library Of New Zealand intend to tender for infrastructure accommodation and related services on January 23.

The deal will cover accomodation for between 40 and 70 server racks, plus ancillary equipment, possibly split across more than one location.

The services component includes communication between the datacentres and agencies, connectivity between datacentres, internet connectivity, connectivity with the KAREN research and education network and connectivity with voice services. Management and hosting services are also included.
