SSC plans briefings on GSN replacement

Consultancy Voco providing services to new tender process

State Services plans to lead a syndicated telecommunication network services project to replace the services provided by the Government Shared Network.

It has issued an advance notice on GETS of “intention to procure” and to invite interested suppliers to a briefing, before preparing a request for proposal.

Last month the government axed the GSN on the grounds that it was financially unsustainable. It had been losing $700,000 a month since becoming operational in September 2007.

There are two inquiries in progress. Consultancy Voco, which is the subject of one inquiry and which was involved in delivering services for the former failed GSN project, is also involved in the new tender process. A State Services spokesman says Voco’s current contract covers technical and architectural services.

SSC says it proposes one or more briefings around mid March to advise of its objectives, the current state of GSN, key terms and evaluation criteria and to deliver an indication of the scale and scope of the syndicated procurement.
