Kundra reinstated after leave of absence

US Federal CIO to keep job after FBI arrests two of his ex-staffers

The New York Times is reporting that US federal CIO Vivek Kundra has been reinstated.

Kundra took a leave of absence from his job at the inaugural US government CIO last week after an FBI raid on his former workplace, the Washington DC CTO office.

As a result of the raid, two staffers who worked under Kundra while he was Washington DC CTO have been charged with corruption-related offences.

There was never any indication Kundra was involved in the activities the pair face charges over.

Some media in the US called for Kundra’s resignation over the raids, while other outlets argued he should stay.

It has also emerged that in 1996, Kundra pleaded guilty to a minor theft charge, but under the law of the state the proceedings took place in, the matter didn’t result in a conviction.
