Right Hemisphere joins PLM Alliance

Relationship with SAP gives Right Hemisphere strong connection to global customer base, says CTO

Right Hemisphere, developer of visual product communication and collaboration software, has boosted its presence in the product lifecycle management space by joining the PLM Alliance.

The international alliance — founded by CENIT, CIDEON, DSC Software and .riess engineering — jointly develops, markets and implements products around German business software giant SAP’s PLM offering.

Right Hemisphere has built a new component to the Alliance’s ezPLM software, allowing users to create and publish 2D and 3D graphics in lightweight formats inside of SAP PLM, says PLM Alliance chairman Horst Heckhorn.

The company has had a partnership with SAP for the past two years. It received an equity investment from SAP Ventures, the venture capital arm of SAP, in 2007 and has created a version of its Deep Server software specifically for SAP PLM.

The relationship with SAP gives it a strong connection to SAP’s global customer base, says Right Hemisphere’s founder and CTO Mark Thomas.

“It broadens our market penetration and provides a platform on which to introduce a much wider range of services and products we can deliver,” he says.

The ezPLM Visualisation Package enables customers with a SAP PLM infrastructure to generate, store and deliver 2D and 3D graphics and documents from CAD models. It also gives users access to Right Hemisphere’s technology for part-viewing, assembly-viewing and redlining, according to the company.

Right Hemisphere has had five consecutive quarters of growth, says Thomas. Given the current economic freeze, he is not sure where things are going. “But at this stage, the business continues to grow, we are hiring people and the orders keep coming in,” he says.

However, the company has experienced a slow-down in decision-making on deals.
