Fujitsu"wind-powered" laptop

Carbon credits for machines bought

Fujitsu is purchasing wind power "green energy credits" for each "FMV Loox" laptop sold in Japan that are equivalent to the amount of electricity estimated to be used by the machine over a four year lifespan.

Fujitsu's calculations are based on an assumption that the amount of electricity used by a laptop over that period is equivalent to 18kg of CO2 emissions. For each machine sold Fujitsu will purchase the equivalent amount of wind-power credits from the Japan Natural Energy Co. The carbon-neutral version of the PC is more expensive than versions sold without the credits.
