One of the country's longest running and most entertaining business stories may finally be coming to an end.
It has featured frenetic lobbying, grandiose promises, comparisons to Jonah Lomu and women's sanitary products, plus millions of dollars of taxpayers' money.
NZ Communications, formerly Econet Wireless, says it will reveal its "go to market" brand and mobile phone network launch date on May 11.
This is about eight years after Econet initially planned to launch the country's third network. In fact according to an early Econet draft marketing plan, the firm aimed to have 367,000 customers by 2006 with an annual marketing budget of $17.3 million.
