Third mobile entrant NZ Communications will launch in August in limited retail channels, including petrol stations and supermarkets, instead of through its own retail stores, according to unattributed company sources.
Formerly known as Econet Wireless, NZ Communications has tried to build a national 3G mobile network since 2000.
Chief executive Mike Reynolds said the company would finally launch in the next few months, but declined to give a definitive date.
It is understood the company was originally planning to launch in October last year, but became bogged down in costly resource consent procedures.
