Infrastructure company Downer EDI has expanded its relationship with Vodafone, resigning a national maintenance deal for Vodafone's mobile network.
Downer was the incumbent, but the new contract greatly expands its role and activities, says Vodafone spokesman Paul Brislen.
Downer EDI now faces increased local competition after Telecom introduced Visionstream to provide maintenance in Auckland and Northland earlier this year. Visionstream took over work that Transfield Services and Downer used to provide.
The three year agreement, covering maintenance work and break-fix services, has a two-year right of renewal. Downer EDI also recently signed a contract with Vodafone to implement 4,000 GPS modules across its transport and construction plant fleet, with linkages to its billing, mileage and plant asset management systems.
