Moshtix enters Kiwi ticketing market

News Ltd company takes on incumbents

Paperless ticketing company moshtix is set to start servicing New Zealand gig-goers at the end of the month, taking on incumbents such as Ticketek.

Launched in 2003 in Australia, moshtix provides a ticketing service to promoters and ticket buyers. The company is owned by New Ltd's News Digital Media since 2007.

In 2007 moshtix developed a barcoded PDF ticket, which allowed it to expand its range of services.

Moshtix says its paperless ticketing system delivers tickets instantly and keeps booking fees lower than those charged by competitors.

The company says it will primarily focus on reaching a youth audience in New Zealand through concerts, dance parties, festivals, comedy, film and outdoor cinema.

Events include SOUNDAY in Christchurch on January 30.
