Freeview is claiming its best quarter since it launched in 2007, with 54,000 extra homes added to its service.

In the final three months of 2009, Freeview reached a total of 346,116 homes. This includes 189,708 Freeview satellite® homes (up 11,791 from the last quarter) and 156,408 Freeview|HD® homes (up 42,354).

Freeview is now available in 21.6 percent of homes in New Zealand, it says, an increase of 3.4 percent on the previous quarter.

Shine TV will launch on April 1 on the Freeview satellite® platform, he says.
