Oracle disaster-recovery specialist gets FRST grant

Avisit Solutions receives TechNZ funding

Oracle services provider Avisit Solutions has received a $100,000 grant from the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology’s TechNZ funding programme.

Avisit’s flagship product is Dbvisit, a business continuity product for Oracle databases.

Avisit founder and chief technology officer Arjen Visser says in a statement announcing the funding that “We’re delighted to have received this R&D funding to expand our disaster recovery product portfolio.

“There is strong demand for affordable, cross-platform database replication solutions as organisations look for ways to protect their data.

“This funding will allow us to extend our product offering over the coming year to meet this demand.”

Avisit was founded in 2000 and the Dbvisit product was formally launched in 2006.

Dbvisit has users in more than 50 countries. Among its local customers are the NZX, Southern Cross Hospitals, Orcon and Fronde. International customers include Alcatel-Lucent and Kellogg’s in the US, and other clients in countries including the UK, Germany, Australia, Canada, Turkey and Ecuador, among others.
